North Macedonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski declared Tuesday a historic day because the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) voted on the report on his country's progress to EU accession. Mucunski commented on the vote while in The Hague, where he was on North Macedonia's delegation to the NATO Summit.

"I am sorry that one of our neighbours is taking steps to deny the facts, and it is good when you see a strong majority in the AFET for something that is important for us as a country. At the same time, I am convinced that, especially when it comes to foreign policy, there should be no triumphalism or celebration, because this report is going to plenary. I am disappointed with our neighbour and with the Bulgarian MEPs. They have, consciously or not, entered into a classic Russian narrative that aims to destabilise the region, because when you do not have clarity on the path of European integration, it's not productive from a regional point of view," Mucunski said in an interview with TV 21.

Speaking to Channel 5's special envoy to the NATO Summit in The Hague, Mucunski announced that a meeting between North Macedonia's President Gordana Silyanovska and Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague is unlikely to take place.

Speaking to Channel 5's special envoy to the NATO Summit in The Hague, Mucunski announced that a meeting between the President of North Macedonia and the Bulgarian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the Summit will probably not take place. Mucunski said, however, that North Macedonia's Government remains open to meetings "at all levels - president with president, prime minister with prime minister, foreign minister with foreign minister."
