site.btaFines for Noise Pollution in Central Bucharest During Summer Season

Clubs and restaurants in Bucharest Sector 1 (the city has 6 sectors) can be fined with up to RON 80,000 (BGN 32,000), shortened working hours, suspension of activities and operating license revocation for noise pollution and public disorder, Romanian media reported on Thursday.
Until the end of summer, local police will perform weekly checks in the region of Lake Herastrau in the north part of Sector 1, and other critical locations, in attempt to limit noise pollution, which has been troubling Bucharest locals.
Night activities, which go above the permitted 75 dB, will be sanctioned. The noise will be measured 15 metres away from the noise source.
Under Romanian legislation, evening venues can receive sanctions of RON 10,000-80,000 (BGN 4,000-32,000) for noise pollution. Violations of public order with loud music, arguments, and other noise activities will be met with fines between RON 200 and 1,500 (BGN 80-600), especially between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Repeat offenders can have their commercial operations suspended for between 10 and 30 days, or their licence can be revoked by the Bucharest mayor upon a report by local police inspectors.
