The Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ruse celebrated its 20th birthday. The chairman of the organization's board of directors announced that the Chamber plans to focus not only on strengthening business relations between Bulgaria and Romania, but also on education.
Among the official guests at the event were the Governor of Ruse, representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in Romania, the Bulgarian-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the Bulgarian-Turkish Chamber and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber was established on September10, 2003. Managers of several large Bulgarian and Romanian companies gathered in Ruse to launch the organization. The problems on the agenda then were the transportation of goods and cargo across the river and transport connectivity in general, a heavy border regime and high fees for crossing the only bridge between Bulgaria and Romania - the one at Ruse, lack of contacts between companies and institutions from the two countries, different legislation regarding business.
Today, twenty years later, the Chamber has 100 members, active companies from both sides of the Danube. According to the Chamber, Romania has proved once again as the second largest trade partner of Bulgaria, and the Chamber has assisted thousands of companies over the years.
