Once again the court in Ohrid adjourned trial proceedings against Ilija Spaseski for the assault on Bulgarian club secretary Hristian Pendikov at the request of Spaseski’s lawyer.

The lawyer Wednesday showed a sick note that Spaseski has to be admitted to hospital for 15 days and he was absent from the courtroom.

Pendikov was present in the courtroom together with some of the witnesses who had to be questioned at Wednesday’s hearing.

“If a person feels innocent, they should make every effort to be present at the hearing in order to be acquitted sooner. The second adjournment at the request of the defence speaks for itself,” said Pendikov’s lawyer Kamishevski.

The next hearing has been scheduled for September 21.

Pendikov himself said that he continues to receive threats on social media and that he has alerted the authorities in North Macedonia about some of them. Pendikov told reporters that his stay in North Macedonia was normal, and he was hoping that "next time they will not kill us". He said: "I hope we will start thinking more openly and not beat each other up because of someone's national identity. I hope this doesn't happen again to anyone, because it's not good for anyone to be beaten or humiliated because of their national identity".
