1990: The first issue of the Vakhan paper, a weekly of the Armenians in Bulgaria, starts coming out.
1999: A memorial is unveiled commemorating the victims of communist repressions in the Koutsian labour camp near Pernik.
2000: Belmeken-Sestrimo cascade becomes operational again after being shut down for rehabilitation.
2003: A National Association of Immigrants to Bulgaria is established as the first immigrants' NGO in this country.
2006: Cabinet determines the portion of concession royalties payable for the extraction of natural resources that will be allocated to municipalities.

1999: A contract is signed for the sale of 58% stake in Neftochim oil refinery in Burgas to Russian oil giant Lukoil.
