President Rumen Radev said Tuesday that the procedures for the procurement of equipment under "The Bulgarian Christmas" charity campaign are based on a clear and transparent algorithm. He commented in connection with the open proceedings launched by the Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC) against the President’s Administration following a company complaint.

Engineers from the Military Medical Academy and professors from the Technical University take part in the procedure under the supervision of an expert council that includes leading paediatricians from across the country, as well as representatives of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and Nova Television.

According to Radev, there have been other appeals over the years, all of which have been won by "The Bulgarian Christmas". He described the current procedure as routine and suggested that attempts were being made to create an unfounded negative impression of the presidential institution.

The complaint was submitted by TOP-DIAGNOSTICS Ltd against a decision of the Secretary General of the President concerning the delivery of medical equipment to healthcare establishments benefiting from the 2024/2025 edition of the charity initiative, divided into 22 separate lots. The complaint was filed under the Public Procurement Act.
