The Municipality of Plovdiv was awarded for most original stand at the 20th Cultural Tourism International Exhibition in Veliko Tarnovo (North Central Bulgaria), which took place from October 8 to 10, the municipal administration's press centre reported Saturday. According to the press release, the award is further proof of Plovdiv's successful policy in establishing the city as a sustainable tourist destination in Bulgaria and Europe.

Visitors to the Plovdiv stand had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the city's millennial history, learn more about its cultural and historical landmarks such as the Ancient Roman Theatre, the Roman Stadium, the Episcopal Basilica of Philippopolis, and the unique atmosphere of the Old Town.

The presentation also focused on the rich calendar of events, which includes over 900 diverse events for 2025, including international festivals, concerts by world stars, theatre performances, exhibitions, and sporting events.

Yuliana Yordanova, Director of the Tourism Department of Plovdiv Municipality, said: "We do not simply offer a tourist product, but a complete experience that combines history, art, cuisine and a unique atmosphere. We are delighted that the jury at the exhibition in Veliko Tarnovo highly appreciated our approach and vision. We continue to work to establish Plovdiv as a preferred destination for cultural tourism."

The Cultural Tourism International Exhibition in Veliko Tarnovo is the most authoritative forum in Bulgaria dedicated to promoting cultural heritage and related tourism practices, the press release reads.
