October 10, Day of Bulgarian Archivists, has become an annual occasion for gathering the country’s archival community, said Associate Professor Mihail Gruev, Chair of the State Archives Agency (SAA), on the occasion of the celebration held on October 10. The event took place on Friday in the Conference Hall of the State Archives Agency, where, in keeping with tradition, long-serving employees were honoured for their contributions to the development of Bulgaria’s archival system.

The ceremony was attended by current and former leaders of the Agency, including former chairs Panto Kolev, Professor Boryana Buzhashka, and Dr. Ivan Komitski, as well as past secretaries-general, who together represent generations of professionals who have shaped the Bulgarian archival institution.

As part of the celebration, several employees aged 60 and above, each with more than 20 years of dedicated service in the Agency’s structures, were recognized for their long-standing commitment and significant contribution to the advancement of the state archives in Bulgaria.
