Bulgarian researcher Dr Svetlana Mintova has been invested as a Chevalier of the French Ordre national du Merite for her contribution to science and higher education in France, the Bulgarian Embassy in France said on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.
The Embassy specified that the award ceremony was held in Caen, Normandy, where Dr Mintova pursues her scientific research.
"We warmly congratulate Dr Svetlana Mintova on this prestigious honour, which is further proof of the contributions of Bulgarian scientists and specialists abroad. We thank her for promoting Bulgaria worldwide," the Embassy said.
Dr Mintova graduated from the Chemical-Technological Institute in Sofia (now the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy). She has worked at the Institute of Applied Mineralogy and the Central Laboratory of Mineralogy and Crystallography (now the Institute of Mineralogy and Crystallography) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Currently, Dr Mintova heads scientific research at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in the Laboratory of Catalysis and Spectrochemistry in Caen.
