The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, who is leading the country's delegation at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, met with Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, Siljanovska-Davkova's office reported on Wednesday.

According to Siljanovska-Davkova, Guterres' leadership "opens space for the necessary reforms in the global organization, and the excellent partnership with the UN team in the country leads to significant support for reforms in the areas of the rule of law, the fight against corruption, and good governance—priorities that are crucial for North Macedonia's European integration."

The President thanked Guterres for his support for North Macedonia's path to the EU and for his position on the need to accelerate the process of European integration. She also stated that in the interests of effective multilateralism, the UN must strengthen its role and be the main arena for addressing global challenges - from the war in Ukraine and conflicts in the Middle East to the climate crisis and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
