Members of the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) took part in the 12th Annual Meeting of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF), hosted by the Albanian Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA). At the event, members unanimously decided that Bulgaria will host the 13th annual BRAF meeting in 2026, CEM said on Tuesday.

The forum, held on September 16-18 in Vlora, Albania, focused on hate speech and freedom of information in audiovisual media and online platforms. Regulators from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Serbia and Turkiye participated. The discussions covered ethical principles, legal frameworks, oversight practices and public awareness campaigns, with emphasis on strengthening regional cooperation, transparency and accountability in curbing incitement to hatred and violence, CEM said.

CEM was represented by Council member Prolet Velkova and Chief Expert Iliya Lyutskanov, who joined a panel discussion on "Public Awareness Campaigns and International Perspectives on Regulating Online Media Content," outlining Bulgarian and European experience, current challenges and good practices.
