In November 1965, British scientist and writer Charles Percy Snow paid an official visit to Bulgaria. His stay in Sofia, from November 5 to 11, was accompanied by his wife, writer Pamela Jones.

During his visit to the Bulgarian capital, Lord Charles Snow met with representatives of the country’s top state leadership, scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), and officials from the State Committee for Science and Technical Progress.

The highlight of his visit came on November 10, when he delivered a lecture on “The Role of Technology in the Modern State” at the House of Technology, held a press conference at the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, and met with Dimitar Dimov, chair of the Union of Bulgarian Writers.

Following Snow’s visit, a Bulgarian delegation travelled to London at the end of November 1965 to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.

Lord Charles Percy Snow was a British scientist, chemist, and writer, born on October 15, 1905, in Leicester, England. Snow was the author of the novels Strangers and Brothers, The Masters, Death under Sail, and The Conscience of the Rich, and was also active as a publicist. He died on July 1, 1980, in London.
