The magic of the big screen has come within arm’s reach, quite literally, at the Istanbul Cinema Museum, where more than 300 models and drawings created by world-renowned director James Cameron for his films are on display.

"The Terminator", "Titanic", "Avatar". Walking through the museum’s halls brings back memories of these iconic titles that continue to captivate audiences every time.

“I think James Cameron is a pioneer. He explores themes that no one else has focused on. In his films, we see what, here in 2025, we experience through computers and the digital world. Forty years ago, through his drawings, he was already able to depict that world and realize his dreams.. "Titanic" broke world records, and later, with "Avatar", he broke his own record again,” said the exhibition’s organizer in an interview with BTA.

At the Istanbul Cinema Museum, visitors can see the drawing of Rose (Kate Winslet) that Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) creates in one of the most memorable scenes from "Titanic". Featured is a specially crafted replica of the film’s famous jewel, the “Heart of the Ocean.” Additionally, drawings of the ship’s captain and cabins are on display. Projected film scenes from this iconic moment make the encounter with the exhibits even more impactful.

“In my view, James Cameron is a director who expresses emotions very clearly through his films. We saw this in "Titanic" - the distance between people, class differences, and how these are not an obstacle to love. It’s a world-famous film that has become a part of history,” said the exhibition organizer.

The exhibition has been in Turkiye since September 27, after previous stops in Italy, France, the US, and Switzerland.

An even bigger event for Istanbul will be James Cameron’s arrival in January.

“Along with hosting a treasure that will be passed down to future generations, we will also witness the extraordinary moment when the famous creator meets audiences in person with his works,” said Birdal Danyildiz, director of the Istanbul Cinema Museum.

The organizers have not yet announced details of Cameron’s visit program. The exhibition will remain in Istanbul until the end of February.
