site.btaDanish Minister for Economic Affairs Expects Bulgaria to Be Welcomed Into Euro Area on Tuesday

Danish Minister for Economic Affairs Stephanie Lose Tuesday said that she expects Bulgaria to be welcomed into the euro area later in the day. Lose will chair a meeting of the EU Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) on behalf of Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.

"It will be my expectation that we will be able to welcome Bulgaria into the eurozone today. I know that Bulgaria has been working towards this day for a long time. It is important to be able to make a decision like that today," Lose told reporters ahead of the meeting.

On Tuesday, the EU finance ministers are expected to adopt three final decisions that would pave the way for Bulgaria to join the euro area as of January 1, 2026. Earlier, Lose expressed confidence that the vote in ECOFIN would proceed smoothly.
