Another meeting of the Joint Multidisciplinary Commission of Experts on Historical and Educational Issues between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, which took place on June 13-14 in Skopje, has passed ‘in the familiar way - without result’, the Bulgarian part of the Commission told the Bulgarian News Agency on Friday.
The meeting, at which the topics of the Archbishopric of Ohrid in the 7th grade textbooks in North Macedonia were again discussed, took place in a relatively calm atmosphere, except for the discussion on the Bulgarian side's proposed joint celebration of the respected folklorist Marko Tsepenkov, but no agreement was reached on that either.
Only the minutes of a meeting held a year and a half ago were completed and signed, with the Bulgarian side stating that the working time of the meetings should no longer be "consumed by dealing with minutes of previous meetings". It was agreed that in future this activity should be carried out through separate meetings held online.
The Commission will hold three more meetings before the end of the year, with the next one in Sofia in September.
In September last year, by a decision of the government in Skopje, the composition of the Commission on the part of the Republic of North Macedonia was changed, with only one representative remaining from the previous composition.
