site.btaBulgaria Has Among Best Conditions for Tourism Development, Says Chair of Parliamentary Committee on Tourism

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Tourism Taner Ali (Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DRF) said at BTA's BG Tourism - Summer 2025 forum that Bulgaria has some of the best conditions for tourism development - spa, cultural, climate tourism. The forum was opened on Sunday BTA Director General Kiril Valchev at the Grand Hotel Pomorie in the seaside town.
Ali congratulated children on their holiday and recalled with nostalgia the days of school camps and green schools, pointing out that it was also a form of tourism. He urged for the restoration of such activities in schools.
He noted that it was an honour for him to attend the BTA forum for the first time to hear the media's point of view. It is very important both as an advertisement and as Destination Bulgaria that we know what we are missing as BG tourism, the Committee Chairman said.
He noted the existing competition in the neighbouring countries - Greece, Turkiye, Croatia and others, where tour operators are doing everything possible for the Bulgarian tourist to feel “globally free, travelling around the world” and especially in the context of Bulgaria's full membership in Schengen. Discussions are important in order to find the best solutions, said the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Tourism. He pointed out that the Committee might be the only one, despite the great political differences in the Bulgarian Parliament, where there is always consensus and stressed the importance of decisions in the Committee to be taken by consensus because “tourism does not divide our Bulgaria as a tourism destination into political groups”.
He pointed out that there is full synchronization in the work of the Committee and the Ministry of Tourism and there is constant contact with the Minister and his deputies.
Among the difficulties, he pointed out the affiliation of the Tourism issue with various departments - the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education and others and also referred to the importance of resolving visa issues.
Taner Ali also pointed out the importance of working together with local authorities.
This is the seventh edition of BTA's initiative to organize forums, which are held twice every year - at the beginning of the summer and winter tourist season, to discuss the messages in the presentation of tourism in Bulgaria in the coming season with representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism business, NGOs, scientists and experts.
