Bulgaria’s gross external debt amounted to EUR 48.675 billion (44.5% of GDP) at end-March 2025, according to the Bulgarian National Bank’s preliminary data released on Friday. This represents a growth by EUR 3.806 billion (8.5%) from end-March 2024 (EUR 44.868 billion, 43.3% of GDP).
Short-term liabilities equalled EUR 9.317 billion (19.1% of the total debt, 8.5% of GDP), growing by EUR 855,900,000 (10.1%) from end-March 2024 (EUR 8.461 billion, 18.9% of the total debt, 8.2% of GDP).
Long-term liabilities totalled EUR 39.358 billion (80.9% of the total debt, 36% of GDP) at end-March 2025, growing by EUR 2.950 billion (8.1%) from end-March 2024 (EUR 36.407 billion, 81.1% of the total debt, 35.1% of GDP).
