Bulgaria's Parliament on Wednesday passed conclusively revisions to the Act on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and on Control of Toxic Chemicals and the Precursors Thereof.

The reasoning to the bill points out that the revisions are prompted by resolutions adopted by the Conference of the States Parties of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, including a resolution on adding two groups of toxic chemicals to the list related to the production, storage, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons. There are no companies in Bulgaria handling chemicals indicated in the annex in question, the movers point out.

According to the provisions adopted on Wednesday, the Intergovernmental Commission for Export Control and Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction with the Minister of Economy must establish and maintain a public register of the persons producing, acquiring and storing or using chemical substances.
