Two police officers in the Turkish border town of Edirne were injured in a car crash while chasing a Bulgarian-registered vehicle, Habertürk reported. The driver of the vehicle -  a Turkish citizen with initials Y. G. - disobeyed the officers' orders to stop for a check, and in the subsequent chase he hit the police car.

Many police teams were sent to the area of the accident. The driver tried to escape but was later detained. It was established that he was wanted for migrant smuggling.

The injured police officers were admitted to hospital.
