Difficulties are expected for cars and lorries crossing the Bulgarian-Greek border at all checkpoints in both directions, due to strike action and road blockades by Greek farmers, the General Directorate of Border Police said on Tuesday.

Greek border police authorities told Border Police Unit Novo Selo on Monday that lorry traffic from Bulgaria into Greece via Kapitan Petko Voyvoda-Ormenion was due to remain suspended until January 5, 2026.

Border Police Unit Gotse Delchev also received information on Monday that the Ilinden-Exohi crossing remained closed by protesting Greek farmers for an unspecified period to freight traffic in both directions.

Border check point Kulata has resumed passenger and freight traffic in both directions.

Traffic remains normal at all border checkpoints with Turkiye, North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia.
