Three suspects in the murders of a 14-year-old girl from Skopje and a 74-year-old man from Veles have been detained, the Interior Ministry in North Macedonia said late Sunday night. Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said on Monday that two more people were being traced, one of whom is reported to have gone first to Belgrade and then to Bulgaria.

The schoolgirl from Skopje was reported missing on November 27 morning on her way to school and for a week the media asked the police every day if the search for her had been successful. Late on Sunday night, the Interior Ministry said that the girl's body was found shot near Skopje.

A 74-year-old man, reported missing on November 24, was also found dead near Veles.

The police said that suspects have been arrested for both murders and one of the suspects has fled the country. The media in North Macedonia found behind the initials of the main organiser, L.P., given by the police, the leader of a small political party in the country.

At a press conference Monday, Interior Minister Spasovski confirmed that all the suspects are from this party, whose headquarters were searched along with other sites in Skopje and Veles. According to Spasovski, evidence has been gathered on five persons who were involved in the abduction and murder of the girl, three of whom are in custody and the main organiser is outside the country. He left with his lawyer for Belgrade, then to Bulgaria.

At the moment, there is no evidence that he is on Bulgarian territory, the Interior Ministry told BTA in response to a query whether a man allegedly linked to the kidnapping and murder of a 14-year-old girl in the Republic of North Macedonia is in Bulgaria. There is no evidence that he is wanted internationally, the Interior Ministry said.
