The airports of Sofia and Varna (on the Black Sea) Monday announced the start of their winter schedule. Sofia Airport will offer flights to over 90 destinations operated by 30 scheduled and charter airlines. Varna Airport's winter schedule includes 13 destinations to 9 countries.

During the winter months this year, Sofia Airport will offer an extensive charter programme, including various destinations and ski charter flights, operator SOF Connect said in a release. Bulgaria's European Air Charter airline will operate charter flights to the Red Sea cities of Hurghada (Egypt) and Aqaba (Jordan) and the Italian capital of Rome. Passengers taking off from Sofia Airport will also be able to fly to Hurghada with BH Air, which will operate flights to the Egyptian capital of Cairo as well.

Ski charter flights during this winter season will be operated from Dublin, Manchester, Belfast, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle and Bristol.

The airlines with the most slots at Sofia Airport for this winter season are currently Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Bulgaria Air.

As part of its winter schedule, Varna Airport will offer daily flights to and from London and Istanbul, the airport's operator told BTA. Passengers will be able to fly to five destinations in Germany: Munich, Berlin, Dortmund, Hamburg, and Cologne. There will be flights to Vienna four time, Eindhoven (the Netherlands) three times a week, and to Brussels and Larnaca (Cyprus) two times a week.

Two airlines will offer flights between Varna and Tel Aviv twice a week. The decision whether the flights will take place will be taken by the airlines at the start of each week.
