site.btaGERB Leader Borissov: State Money at Rock Bottom

"The money is gone. The state money is at rock bottom at the moment, so [Finance Minister] Assen Vassilev cleverly asked - and we agreed - to postpone the [adoption of the] budget until after the [local] elections," GERB leader Boyko Borissov said in Haskovo on Wednesday, commenting on the eventual adoption of the 2024 State Budget Act. In Haskovo Borissov met with mayoral candidates and candidates for municipal councilors in the region.

Borissov warned that in March 2024 there will be a rotation in power, Mariya Gabriel of GERB will become a Prime Minister and then every incumbent minister who has not done his job, will be replaced. According to the leader of GERB, some of the incumbent ministers are "real amateurs". Borissov stressed that currently nothing can happen without GERB.

"Since we entered this coalition, sorry, non-coalition, we [GERB] have confused the people and have become a laughing stock, but we are in the same boat, rowing together," Borissov said, commenting on the relations of GERB with the Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition. He explained that the balance is difficult, but the most important thing is that at least the boat is sailing towards the Euro-Atlantic direction.

In early June, GERB-UDF and CC-DB formed a regular government on a rotational basis.
