site.btaTurkiye Stops 178 Illegal Migrants near Border with Bulgaria

Gendarmerie and police officers have stopped 178 illegal migrants from crossing the Turkish-Bulgarian border near Edirne. Ihlas Haber Ajansi reported the large-scale operation involved helicopters. The city's exits were blocked by security personnel.

The group included migrants from Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Libya, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. After their identity was established, the migrants were handed over to the regional migration centre for return.

 Demiroren Haber Ajansi reported that 169 migrant traffickers were detained in Edirne province and 87 of them were put under arrest.
