Parliament elected Dimitar Glavchev President of the Bulgarian National Audit Office by 148 votes in favour, 34 against, and 6 abstentions. Glavchev, who is the nominee of GERB-UDF, took the oath of office before the National Assembly.

The other contender for the post - Nina Stoimenova, proposed by Vazrazhdane, received 38 votes in favour, 40 against and 99 abstentions.

The vote was open, in alphabetical order of the candidates' first names.

The term of office of the President of the the Bulgarian National Audit Office is 7 years.

"My concept is to strictly adhere to the framework of the law", Glavchev said during his hearing in the Committee on Budget and Finance, adding that his view is when someone applies for a position, they should be familiar with the regulations in this area and comply with them.

When presenting the candidacy in the plenary hall, the floor leader of GERB-UDF parliamentary group Desislava Atanasova, said that Glachev has the necessary education, professional experience and expertise for the post, which is why he has the full support of the parliamentary group. She wished "good luck" to the other candidate - Nina Stoimenova.

Vazrazhdane stressed that Stoimenova meets the requirements to take the post. "We have tried to bet on a person with expertise and not a political figure, as was the case with the BNB", said Deyan Nikolov, who also wished success to Nina Stoimenova's opponent.
