More than 40 films from 22 countries are included in the programme of the ninth edition of the International Short Film Festival "Quarantine", which will take place between August 1 and 5 on the beach in Asparuhovo district in Varna.

The films that the forum will offer are fiction, documentary, experimental and animation, organizers from Daedalus School said. Many of them have been selected for the prestigious festivals in Venice, Berlin, Toronto, as well as Sundance in the USA and are being shown for the first time in Bulgaria. In 2023, works by artists from Chile, Argentina, Canada, Lithuania, Luxembourg will be shown, along with the traditionally strongly represented countries of Spain, France, Germany and Italy. Bulgarian films will also participate.

Each screening will be preceded by live original music presented by the bands Funkaround, S&GH Acoustic, Three men Orchestra, Innerglow and Teddy Velvet, organizers said. Again, free transport to Asparuhovo will be provided, departing from the Archaeological Museum in Varna every evening.

Before the first night of the festival, on July 31 at 5:30 pm, a clean-up action will be carried out on the hard-to-reach places along the coast in the area. The meeting point for the volunteers is on Asparuhovo beach.

The Quarantine Film Festival has recently received the EFFE Label, a European seal of quality awarded for commitment to the arts, community involvement and international openness.
