Democratic Bulgaria (DB) co-chair Hristo Ivanov pointed out from the parliamentary rostrum on Tuesday that the newly established Cabinet is, for all intents and purposes, a caretaker cabnet, voted in by Parliament. "It is important to understand its political limitations," Ivanov added, explaining that it should be seen as a means of providing the necessary time.

Democratic Bulgaria's co-chair noted that the decision was very difficult for many, because the combination of voices leads to difficult compromises. He argued that this is a sure sign that Bulgaria is far from the normal governance of the parliamentary republic. The politician stressed that the crisis that needs to be to solved is a crisis of the social contract itself. The reason, Ivanov pointed out, is that the transition [to democracy]  has not been completed definitively and this has degenerated into "malicious corruption" and "the influence of Putin's regime".

All this led to severe social division, the basic mechanism of the republic was broken, the elections stopped producing trust, and the parliament turned into a battlefield where the idea of compromise turned into defection, the DB co-chairman pointed out. According to him, Bulgaria must have a government now to get out of this situation.

Ivanov argued that the next step is to is to normalize justice in Bulgaria. "Yes, we will do it with our opponents, with whom we fought a hard battle," the MP said, adding that it is not about arithmetic, but about democratic duty. The co-chair of the DB promised that they will look for points of contact with the Bulgarian Socilaist Party as well. He expressed readiness for talks with the Vazrazhdane party when it comes to revising the social contract.

Ivanov explained that to solve the fundamental causes of the crisis of the social contract means a new beginning of justice through constitutional reform, a restart of regulators and anti-corruption institutions, a consensus on the key elements of the electoral process. It also means cleaning up and modernizing the services and the security system, he added.
