Tolls will be increased after this was postponed at the end of last year in order to find a fairer mechanism, said Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Shishkov during a construction inspection of the Europa motorway on Thursday. The increase will be 50%.

At the end of last year, the caretaker government adopted a decree to increase the fees that are collected for passing and using the republican road network, which was adopted in 2019. At the time, the increase was postponed from the originally planned date, January 1, 2023, to 1 July 2023.

It is envisaged that the price will be determined by the number of kilometres traveled by carriers. The Minister explained that there will be a discount in the fee over a certain mileage of about 4-5 thousand km within a month, otherwise this would "ricochet on the prices of all products in the domestic market".

For transit traffic, the increase will be as planned.

The increase will most likely come into effect in two months.
