Caretaker Environment and Water Minister Rositsa Karamfilova is participating in the UN 2023 Water Conference, Karamfilova’s Ministry reported here on Wednesday.

The conference is held at the UN headquarters in New York and was officially opened on March 22 – World Water Day.

Karamfilova is scheduled to take part in the general debate, during which the mid-term implementation of the Water Action Decade’s goals will be reviewed.

The conference will be attended by heads of state, ministers, leaders of UN organizations, NGOs, international financial institutions, the academic community, among others.

The Bulgarian Minister is also scheduled to take part in the discussions within the Water for Climate, Resilience and Environment interactive dialogue on Thursday.

Every year since 1993, World Water Day (22 March) raises awareness and inspires action to tackle the water and sanitation crisis.  It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is a United Nations observance coordinated by UN-Water.
