Global Warming Problems and
Adaption of Farms Among Topics Discussed by
Agriculture Ministers from Southeast Europe

Sofia, November 12 (BTA) - Agriculture Minister Dessislava
Taneva opened the Eighth Annual Working Meeting of Agriculture
and Rural Development Ministers in Southeast Europe here on
Wednesday.

Countries from Southeast Europe can be mutually useful by
exchanging experience and measures for solving various problems,
Taneva said during the opening.

Among the major focal points of the forum's Bulgarian
Presidency, which started Wednesday, are the impact of climate
change and need for specific measures to adapt farms.

The Agriculture Minister voiced hope that the forum's
discussions will define common strategies for the development of
agriculture and rural areas in the region. She noted that
Bulgaria went through many agricultural development stages and
the policies have been synchronized with the those of the EU
since 2007. Discussions can be the grounds for exchanging
different policies, aimed at businesses, food producers and the
whole sector.

The Bulgarian delegates will present the current state of the
agricultural sector during the forum. On Thursday, the guests
will be shown a presentation of a local initiative group in
Pravets (Western Bulgaria), which implements specific projects
under the Rural Development Programme. VI/MY
