Irena Borisova Is Appointed Deputy Justice Minister

Irena Todorova Borisova has been appointed Deputy Minister of Justice by order of Prime Minister Rumen Radev,, the government information service said.

Irena Borisova graduated in law from Sofia University. She has worked at the Ministry of Justice since 2005, holding various expert positions. She has long-standing experience in the fields of international and European criminal law, international legal cooperation, and the development of legislative policies.

Borisova participated in Bulgaria’s accession process to the European Union, in the drafting of legal acts of the European Union and the Council of Europe, as well as in the preparation of numerous legislative amendments in the field of criminal law.

She has represented Bulgaria in numerous international formats and expert bodies, including the MONEYVAL Committee of the Council of Europe, as well as working groups of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission on issues related to criminal law, anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, human trafficking, and victim protection.

The other two deputies of Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov are the former chief of the General Directorate National Police, Stanimir Stanev, and the judge with the Supreme Administrative Court, Iva Kecheva.
