site.btaBlood Donation Campaigns to Take Place in Sofia, Other Cities on Palm Sunday

A spring campaign for voluntary and unpaid blood donation, titled “Light a Candle – Donate Life!”, was launched by the National Centre for Transfusion Hematology, the Ministry of Health, and the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC), with the support of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church on Palm Sunday, the organizers said. 

The initiative will continue throughout Bright Week following Easter, according to the BRC. The campaign has been held for nearly 20 years.

In Sofia, temporary blood donation points will be set up on Sunday near the Church of Seven Saints and the The Church of the Holy Virgin's Protection, operating from 9 am to 1 pm.

The campaign in the capital will continue on April 16 at the Faculty of Theology and the Church of St Nedelya, as well as on April 19 at the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the Mladost borough.

Also on Palm Sunday, the Military Medical Academy is organizing its traditional blood donation campaign under the motto “Be One of Us: Donate Blood – Save a Life!”.

In Pleven, the “Light a Candle – Donate Life!” campaign will take place on  from 9 am to 3 pm in the building adjacent to the Church of St. Paraskeva.
