The Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) has decided to ban the usage of unfair and misleading commercial practice at a large retail chain, the CCP press centre said on Friday. The decision was made after consumer complaints alarmed the presence of false and misleading information in the chain’s advertising leaflets and mobile application in relation to the conditions and reach of the discounts.

Consumers complained that products were included in a discount campaign but stayed at original prices.

After an analysis of the complaints, papers and the chain's standpoint, CCP found the presence of deceitful information on the prices, the discounts and the conditions to use them. CCP stressed that retailer is obliged to provide customers with unambiguous and clear information on those topics. Moreover, internal organizational, technical and editorial mistakes do not discharge the retailers from their liability to give access to precise information to customers.
