The leader of the coalition Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria list in Silistra 20th constituency, Bogomil Petkov, and the deputy leader of Continue the Change, Nikolay Denkov, meet with representatives of local businesses. At the event, serious structural problems and corrupt practices in Bulgaria were discussed.

“Bulgaria is not poor, it is plundered,” Denkov said, stressing that corruption is systemic and spans the government, parliament, judicial system, regulators, and business. He provided examples of abuses in agriculture, where subsidies are concentrated in the hands of a small group of families, in healthcare, where increased funding does not lead to significant results. and in education, where funds are often allocated to companies close to those in power.

Denkov emphasized that the problems are not isolated cases but part of a broadly organized system of abuses that allows a small group of people to enrich themselves and maintain influence in the state.

Despite the grim picture, Denkov expressed optimism, noting that recognizing the scale of corruption is the first step toward change. “Reforms are possible if corrupt structures are addressed and transparency in governance is strengthened,” he added.
