Securing funding for the repair of the Asparuhov Bridge in Varna will be a key priority in Bulgaria’s 2027 state budget, according to Miroslav Borshosh, a parliamentary candidate from the GERB-UDF list in Varna. Borshosh’s statement, cited by the coalition’s local press office, came after a meeting with the mayor of Varna’s Asparuhovo district, Ivaylo Marinov.
The discussion also included fellow parliamentary candidate Kristian Ganchev.
Participants reviewed current challenges facing the district and outlined development concepts aimed at improving infrastructure and public services. Alongside the planned renovation of the Asparuhov Bridge - one of the city’s key transport links - several investment projects were highlighted. These include the modernization of Asparuhovo Park and a local chitalishte community center, as well as the construction of a new medical complex in the Galata neighborhood. Plans were also discussed for the refurbishment of the St. Ivan Rilski medical center.
A major long-term project identified during the meeting is the creation of a new technology park in the Malka Chaika area, which officials say could help attract large-scale investors and boost economic growth in the region.
