The Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) will be meeting on Wednesday to discuss the appointment of a new acting Prosecutor General, according to its agenda published on the SJC website.
The item was proposed by caretaker Justice Minister Andrey Yankulov, and was forwarded to the Prosecutors Chamber by the Plenum of the SJC.
The current acting Prosecutor General is Borislav Sarafov.
The SJC Plenum left without consideration the proposal by Andrey Yankulov to appoint a new acting Prosecutor General and decided to forward the request to the Prosecutors Chamber as the competent body.
Previously, the members of the Prosecutors Chamber have held that a provision limiting the term of an acting prosecutor general to six months, does not apply to the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.
