Stanimir Belomazhev Finishes Fifth in Middle Distance Race at World Ski Orienteering Championships in Tokyo

Bulgarian ski orienteering competitor Stanimir Belomazhev finished in fifth place in the middle-distance race at the World Championships in Tokyo Thursday.

Belomazhev, who previously placed fifth in the sprint and fourth in the pursuit races, re-entered the world's top 6 with this result. The 38-year-old Bulgarian completed the distance in 59:50 minutes, less than four minutes behind world champion Niklas Ekstrom from Finland.

In the women's event, Antoniya Grigorova finished in 20th place, and the title went to Finland's Amanda Yli Futka.

The final event of the World Championships, the mixed relay, is set to take place on Friday.
