Caretaker Labour and Social Policy Minister Hasan Ademov said on Wednesday that the ministry must ensure that people with disabilities can freely express their right to vote. He spoke during a meeting with national representative organizations of people with disabilities, the ministry announced.
According to Ademov, the vulnerable are the most susceptible to a controlled vote and his team will be ready to immediately check if there is evidence of irregularity. The organizations shared that in small settlements, an accessible environment is often not provided that would allow people with disabilities to vote, and they themselves do not want to do this with a mobile ballot box because of the many signals of manipulation.
The distribution of food packages with 11 basic products will begin in mid-March, Ademov announced. He stressed that it has been decided to accelerate the provision of this support. The minister assured that the ministry will work to prevent the food packages from being used for election purposes.
During the meeting, the possibilities for improving the system for people with disabilities, as well as ways to ensure employment for them, were also discussed. The minister assured that social payments are guaranteed. He said that the government has adopted a draft amending and supplementing the so-called Budget Extension Law.
The bill amending the budget extension law has already been submitted to the National Assembly, according to a report on the parliament's website.
