The Finance Ministry raised EUR 150 million in new debt at an auction of two-year government securities, the Bulgarian National Bank said on Monday. The achieved weighted average annual yield stood at 2.37%.

The total nominal value of the bids admitted for participation was some EUR 258.8 million, including non-competitive bids amounting to some EUR 28.3 million. The coverage coefficient was 1.91. The average price of the bids admitted to the auction was EUR 99.67 per EUR 100 nominal value.

Eight primary dealers in government securities took part in the auction. The Ministry of Finance will offer additional quantities of the issue for sale, the statement said.

This was the fourth auction for the sale of government securities on the domestic market since the beginning of 2026, a reference by BTA in the data of the Finance Ministry shows. Following Monday's auction, the total amount of new debt since the beginning of the year has reached EUR 600 million.

Under the Public Finance Act, in conditions of an extended budget the Council of Ministers may assume government debt to refinance debt in circulation up to the amount of the annual repayments on government debt incurred prior to the beginning of the respective budget year.

In 2025, the Ministry of Finance placed new debt through the sale of government securities amounting to approximately EUR 8.9 billion (BGN 17.4 billion).
