Figure skater Alexandra Feigin, who is one of Bulgaria’s flag bearers for the opening of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, presented the outfit in which the Bulgarian delegation will parade on the opening event on February 6. Feigin will carry the national flag in Milan, while Vladimir Iliev will do so in Cortina d’Ampezzo. These will be the two main opening ceremonies, while ceremonies will also take place at the other two Game clusters: Livigno and Predazzo, where Bulgaria’s snowboard and cross-country skiing teams will be based, respectively.

The Bulgarian outfit is predominantly red, with white and green elements that are part of the national flag. It was produced by the company VIST.

In the Anterselva area, the Bulgarian biathlon team continues its preparation ahead of the competitions beginning on February 8.

The cross-country skiers are in Val di Fiemme, while the snowboarders are in Livigno. Bulgaria’s leading athletes, Radoslav Yankov and Tervel Zamfirov, recorded a message in support of keeping the parallel giant slalom in the Olympic programme. A decision on this will be taken after the conclusion of Milano Cortina 2026. For Radoslav Yankov, the 25th Winter Games will likely be the last of his career, but the athlete from Chepelare emphasizes that thousands of young Bulgarian competitors have followed in his footsteps.

The President of the European Olympic Committees, Spyros Capralos, noted in his speech ahead of the Games that 20 athletes who were nominated for the Piotr Nurowski Awards for the Best Young European Athlete, are taking part in Milano Cortina. Among them is the 16-year-old winner of the vote of Europe’s national Olympic committees, Malena Zamfirova.

The first events on the Olympic programme take place Thursday, and the hosts announced that 1.2 million tickets have been sold.
