site.btaNational Representative Committee Formed in Sevlievo to Mark 170 Years of Chitalishte Movement in Bulgaria
A National Representative Committee to support the marking of the 170th anniversary of the nationwide chitalishte (community cultural centre) movement in Bulgaria was announced in Sevlievo on Friday. During the event, golden keys were presented to prominent cultural figures, university rectors, mayors and other individuals with significant contributions to chitalishte activities in the country, members of the National Representative Committee.
The ceremony was attended by mayors, Bulgarian News Agency Director General Kiril Valchev, Chair of the Union of Community Centres Prof. Nikolay Doynov, Gabrovo Deputy Regional Governor Ivan Lyubomirov, deputy mayors, municipal councillors, cultural figures, university rectors and public personalities.
Congratulatory addresses from President Iliana Iotova and outgoing Culture Minister Marian Bachev were read out at the event.
The National Representative Committee includes 105 well-established figures from Bulgaria’s cultural and political life.
