Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that ministers in the government will be replaced if they fail to act conscientiously and remain committed to their duties, RTS reported. Vucic made the statement on Sunday during an extraordinary cabinet meeting, which he attended at the invitation of Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut.

Vucic said that during the next heavy snowfall and severe weather, if Serbian citizens are again left without electricity and water, the responsible ministers and other officials in leadership positions will be replaced.

At the beginning of 2026, a state of emergency was declared in more than ten municipalities in Serbia, and tens of thousands of people were left without electricity and water during the holiday period around Christmas and New Year.

According to Vucic, the practice of ministers taking long breaks and failing to work with dedication must come to an end.

During the extraordinary meeting of the Serbian government, Vucic addressed the heads of public utility companies responsible for water and electricity supplies, telling them that if they are unwilling to work for change, they should step down. He also said that he had called some utility company directors to inform them about the problems and about the fact that many citizens had been left without electricity during the recent cold spell in Serbia.
