site.btaBulgarian Embassy in Kyiv Hosts Reception for National Day
A reception marking March 3, Bulgaria’s Liberation Day from Ottoman rule, and May 6, the Day of Valour and the Bulgarian Armed Forces, was held on March 3 in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Ukraine in cooperation with the Office of the Defence Attache at the Bulgarian diplomatic mission, Bulgaria’s Embassy in Kyiv announced.
In her address to the guests, Elena Slatinska-Ovanezova, Charge d’Affaires at the Bulgarian Embassy in Ukraine, highlighted the contribution of Ukrainians to the liberation of Bulgaria, the centuries-old historical and cultural ties between Bulgaria and Ukraine, and the role of the more than 200,000-strong Bulgarian community in the development of bilateral relations.
She underlined Bulgaria’s continued support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, a position reaffirmed through seven consecutive resolutions adopted by the Bulgarian National Assembly.
Slatinska-Ovanezova noted Bulgaria’s humanitarian support for Ukraine, provided not only on a bilateral basis through various programs and projects but also within the framework of international organizations. The Embassy also pointed to Bulgaria’s important role in regional connectivity and energy security projects, whose significance continues to grow in the context of relations with Ukraine.
Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Stanchev, Bulgaria’s Defence, Air and Naval Attache in Ukraine, also addressed the guests. He said that from the very beginning of the war Bulgaria has consistently supported Ukraine, based on its allied commitments, respect for international law, and the conviction that Ukraine’s security is inseparably linked to the security of Europe. Stanchev noted the provision of substantial military-technical assistance to Ukraine.
Greetings to the attendees on the occasion of Bulgaria’s National Day, were delivered by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis.
The reception was attended by members of the diplomatic corps and military attaches accredited in the country, as well as representatives of Ukrainian institutions and organizations, business circles, academic and cultural communities, and the Bulgarian community in Ukraine.
As part of the cultural program, four musicians from the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre performed Five Sketches for String Quartet by Bulgarian composer Marin Goleminov, along with other works.
