Speaking on bTV on Saturday, Gabriel Valkov MP of BSP - United Left said that he sees former president Rumen Radev as a partner once they enter the next parliament. "We, the BSP, have elected him president twice. I worked for him during his election campaign," Valkov added. He was confident that the BSP would also be present in the next parliament.

"I hope that the congress on February 7 and 8 will create a new left platform and elect new leadership, because that is what the Socialists want," Valkov noted. He himself has received nominations for party chair. "I accept the nominations. We will see how much trust I will earn from the local structures and then from the congress," the MP said.

He described the BSP's participation in the government in recent months as a mistake.

Valkov also commented on the Election Code amendments that the parliamentary Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs recently adopted. "You cannot change the Election Code in the last days of Parliament. [...] You cannot completely change the system two months before the elections and expect high voter turnout or trust in the electoral process," he said. "We are not against the scanning devices system, but we oppose its implementation now, for the upcoming elections," he specified. That is why during the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs' sitting, the BSP-United Left proposed that these devices be introduced as of January 1, 2027, Valkov said. "We will refuse to register in the debating chamber as long as things proceed like this," he added. "We decided not to register attendance in the debating chamber because it is obvious that Parliament will adopt them now, and we do not want that. This undermines trust in the electoral process," the MP said.
