The Arte Gallery in Sofia presents the exhibition "Classics of Modern Bulgarian Painting" – Part II. The exhibition includes works by Atanas Patsov, Atanas Yaranov, Genko Genkov, Dimitar Kazakov – Neron, Ivan 'Rembrandt' Georgiev, and Stefan Gatsev. They will be on display from January 27 to February 13.

The exhibition is a continuation of the project "Classics of Modern Bulgarian Painting," presented by the gallery last year. "The same authors are included, but with other, previously unseen works. This is a long-standing tradition for Arte, which began as a series called "From Collections for Collectors" in 2018. The focus is on little-known, previously unknown works by prominent artists, which by being shown to the public complete our understanding of the diverse manifestations of their immense talent and creative power," says artist Prof. Stanislav Pamukchiev.

According to him, the exhibition presents iconic, mythic names in Bulgarian art. Genko Genkov, Dimitar Kazakov-Neron, Ivan Rembrandt Georgiev, Atanas Patsov, Atanas Yaranov, and Stefan Gatsev are "regarded today as avant-garde, the pride and dignity of a cultural territory at a specific time - the 1970s and 1980s, when the relatively stagnant socio-cultural context gave rise to the reaction, the will, and the longing for a new art," says Prof. Pamukchiev.
