“I am looking forward to having the former president at the pre-election debates, if he has the courage to show up,” Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov wrote on Facebook, following President Rumen Radev’s statement that he will submit his resignation on Tuesday.
“He will have to answer many questions that he will no longer be able to hide from, as he has done until now,” Kostadinov said.
The leader of Vazrazhdane commented on a key point in Radev’s speech.
“Did Radev really say that we need a new social contract? Did he then go on to say that Bulgaria needs to be refounded, and finally conclude with ‘It’s time for revival’ (revival translates as ‘vazrazhdane‘ in Bulgarian)?” Kostadinov wrote.
“I expect the next step of the former president to be a call for withdrawal from NATO. I don’t know why the person who wrote Radev’s speech didn’t include that as well, after all, it’s also written in the programme of Vazrazhdane,” Kostadinov added.
