The President of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation (BGF), Krasimir Dunev, has been elected Vice President of the Balkan Gymnastics Federation, the BGF said in a press release on Sunday.

The Olympic silver medallist on the horizontal bar from the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games received the support of 13 out of the 14 member countries of the organization during the federation’s congress, held in Istanbul. Only representatives of Romania were absent.

Alongside Dunev, Mario Moznik (Croatia) was also elected Vice President. Suat Celen (Turkiye) was re-elected as President.

The congress also decided to expand the Executive Committee from two to four members.

By the end of February, member countries are expected to submit bids to host the Balkan Championships in the various gymnastics disciplines for 2026, after which the Executive Committee will select the host nations, the BGF said.
