In a decision published Sunday, the national leadership of Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) insists that when selecting a caretaker prime minister, the President should be guided by the principle of holding fair, transparent, and free elections. According to DSB, which is part of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria parliamentary group, an important guarantee for this is the dismissal of the acting Chairman of the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the heads of all regional directorates of the Ministry of Interior appointed by the last two interior minister, Kalin Stoyanov and Daniel Mitov. This will remove the front men of the parallel centre of power who are covering up vote buying, the statement reads.
DSB confirms its readiness to participate in the upcoming early parliamentary elections in coalition with its partners from Yes, Bulgaria and Continue the Change "as the only alternative to the status quo and a union based on a common desire for a strong, secure, and prosperous Bulgaria in a strong European Union." The DSB's political priorities include an economy that invests rather than "absorbs," as well as a State governed by the rule of law rather than a deep State with a parallel centre of behind-the-scenes power.
The party is initiating a procedure for nominating MP candidates in accordance with its statutes and is assigning regional chairpersons an active role in seeking out and attracting publicly recognizable, authoritative figures outside the party ranks, with the nomination process being built from the bottom up in order to form strong, legitimate, and publicly supported candidate lists, the DSB's press centre said.
