More than 10,000 complaints and reports have been filed with the Ombudsman between January 1, 2025, and mid-December, which is close to that figure from the previous year, the national Ombudsman's press service reported on Monday. There were nearly 700 complaints to the Ombudsman against heating companies. Those related to water and sewerage services numbered over 570.

By mid-December 2025, nearly 70,000 citizens received assistance from the Ombudsman's office through consultations, inspections, recommendations, outreach visits, and active intervention with state and local authorities.

The Ombudsman's work has also led to specific legislative initiatives and changes, such as the abolition of the so-called water meter fee, the removal of the requirement for only one water and sanitation operator to operate within a given territory, and more.

There were also frequent reports of violations of property rights and economic freedom related to construction and planning restrictions, expropriation procedures, restitution, etc. There were nearly 500 complaints and reports of violations of the right of access to justice.

More than 460 complaints and reports related to children's rights were received by mid-December 2025. Among the most common complaints are those concerning access to education for children with special educational needs, protection from violence, and protection of the rights of children with disabilities.
