The new St Anastasia Children's Hospital in Burgas will seek to attract Bulgarian doctors working abroad, whose experience and professionalism will guarantee that the hospital has a highly qualified team when it starts functioning, Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov said on Tuesday.

For this purpose, the Burgas Municipal Council approved the creation of a special commission which will organize recruitment competitions for the positions of hospital director and key medical staff of the new children's hospital in the seaside city.

So far, applications have been received from nearly 400 people, Nikolov noted, adding that the commission will include both local specialists and an international expert who will help meet all European standards in the selection. For candidates who are not from Burgas, the local government has provided municipal housing in the Izgrev Borough, Nikolov added.

The opening of the St Anastasia Children's Hospital is planned for 2026.
